Feb 23, 2011 (newstodate): Meeting on February 21, 2011, all parties involved in cargo traffic at Copenhagen Airport, the airport's security department and three representatives from Danish Transport Authority's department of aviation security reached agreement on the solution to the airport's long out-standing issue of cargo security.
-After a detailed discussion, implementation of a video surveillance system to secure the transport roads from cargo terminals to the entrance of the CSRA emerged as the final solution that also obtained a nod by the Transport Authority, says Johnnie Muller, Copenhagen Airport head of security.
-Already by the end of this week, a draft budget for acquisition and implementation of a system will be sent to the parties, who will then commit themselves to foot the bill to be eventually split among the participants.
-One issue to be solved is the manning of the monitoring unit. This will not be provided by the airport, but by one or the other of the cargo handling companies.
-All parties are keen to see this issue resolved as soon as possible, and from date when all details concerning the future system and the costs have been cleared up, the implementation of the system will require three to five months. This means that everything should be in place by autumn 2011, says Mr Muller.
