Feb 10, 2011 (newstodate): 110 percent - that was the growth in cargo volumes at Lithuania's second-largest international airport.
Kaunas airport handled a total of 4,449 tonnes of cargo during the year, seeing positive growth month by month.
2,849 tonnes of the totals were cargo shipments, while mail volumes landed at 1,600 tonnes.
The growth did slow down after October 2010 that was still rising steeply in volumes thanks to the ex-China freighter service by the Lithuanian logistics company Hoptrans, bringing imports into west and central European markets.
These operations have been suspended since the end of the year, but plans are on the table for resumption of services after the Chinese new year.
