Feb 14, 2011 (newstodate): The new BAWC freighter service from Oslo to Hong Kong will be handled by Menzies at Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
-The decision comes as no surprise as Menzies is already handling British Airways' passenger aircraft here, says an industry source.
-What is perhaps more surprising is that the route will be east-bound from Oslo while the focus by British Airways World Cargo is otherwise west-bound towards the US market.
-We might expect the next move by BAWC to be the addition of a second weekly frequency heading towards the US market once the Hong Kong route has been firmly established, says the source.
While the logistics provider DB Schenker Northern Cargo, Norway's second-largest in the seafood industry, is driving the new route, sales of the general cargo capacity has been entrusted to Roadfeeders.
