Feb 08, 2011 (newstodate): British Airways World Cargo is now warming up to the start of the new freighter service at Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
-The service will be operated by a Boeing 747-400 Freighter and will provide direct access to Hong Kong and onwards to Chinese destinations such as Guangzhou, Shenzen, Xiamen and Fuzhou, says Jackie Large, BAWC Area Commercial Manager - North West Europe.
-The freighter will be handled by our partners at Oslo Gardermoen - Roadfeeders, and will have an overall weekly capacity of 90 tonnes.
-The new service will be available for bookings as from today, says Mr Large.
Behind the new service is a contract with DB Schenker Northern Cargo that holds commitments from the country's seafood exporters, but the freighter service will also seek to attract customers in the Scandinavian general air cargo market.
British Airways World Cargo last served the Norwegian seafood exporters with a dedicated Asian freighter service from Oslo in 2000, but the operation was canceled after a short period of time.
