Feb 18, 2011 (newstodate): Airbus has landed its first order for A380 aircraft from a Japanese customer.
Japan's third largest and fast growing airline, Skymark Airlines, has signed a contract for four A380 aircraft, firming up a MoU announced in November 2010.
With this latest order, Airbus has booked firm orders from 19 customers for 244 A380 aircraft, of which 43 have been delivered to five customers.
Today, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa, and Air France operate the aircraft on daily services to Tokyo Narita Airport. Starting from March 27, 2011, Singapore Airlines will extend its A380 operation from Narita to Los Angeles, while Korean Air's first A380 service to Narita is scheduled on June 1 this year.
