As one example, China's airports last year handled a total of 5.57 million tonnes of air cargo!
That was an increase by 24 percent over the volumes in 2009, 4.5 mio tonnes.
Estimates for China's total cargo volumes in 2001 are around 6.2 mio tonnes, which would mean a more modest increase at 11-12 percent ,y-o-y.
In 2010 China had 175 airport compared to 166 in 2009.
