Dec 01, 2011 (newstodate): In the first nine months of 2011, Uzbekistan's Namangan Airport has seen its cargo volumes rising four-fold, compared to last year.
A total of 27,500 tonnes of cargo has thus been handled at the airport during January-September, 2011.
The airport was thoroughly modernized in projects completed by the end of 2007.
In addition to an upgraded passenger terminal, the projects also comprised a reconstruction of the 4,000 m runway, as well as installation of new airfield lighting and Navaid systems to meet ICAO standards.
