Dec 29, 2011 (newstodate): Tajikistan's Tajik Air has placed orders for two unusual aircraft - China-manufactured MA-60 turboprop aircraft.
The first MA-60 arrived from the factory at Xian, China, before Christmas, with the second to follow in spring 2012.
Tajik Air will deploy the two aircraft on domestic routes as well as on routes from Dushanbe to Mashhad in Iran, Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, and Almaty in Kazakhstan.
Tajik Air already operates a fleet comprising one Boeing 757-200, two Boeing 737-500, two TU-154M, two AN-28, one AN-24, one Yak-40 and two helicopters Mi-8MTV.
So far, the Chinese manufacturer has delivered 66 MA-60 and has a further 46 aircraft on order.
