Dec 30, 2011 (newstodate): When it comes to market share in its home turf, Finnair is unique in the Nordic region that is otherwise very diluted.
Thus, Finnair held no less than 48.7 percent of the market for IATA export airfreight in November 2011, relegating competing airlines to minor stakes.
#2 in the Finnish market, Lufthansa Cargo therefore had to satisfy itself with 13.4 percent, while #3 on the list, KLM Cargo took only 6.9 percent of the Finnish IATA exports.
The Scandinavian carrier SAS had to fight much harder in its Danish, Swedish and Norwegian markets, constituting its home base.
Thus the carrier was ranked #2 in Denmark with 13.8 percent of the market, #1 in Sweden with 14.8 percent, and #7 in Norway where it took 7.6 percent of the market.
Topping the list in Denmark in November 2011 was KLM Cargo with 15.5 percent, while #1 in Norway was Qatar Airways with 14.1 percent of the market.
