Dec 19, 2011 (newstodate): Formerly named North Hub Services, the Latvian ground handling provider is trading as Havas Europe since December 15, 2011 - and it will not be just a change of name..
-Shareholders will meet within a few weeks to confirm a strategy for Havas Europe, and at least it be said now already that we will continue our existing Baltic strategy that will, however, become part of a larger over-all plan, says Janis Balkens, Havas Europe CEO.
-Operations at many new stations within the EU region as well as CIS are in the pipeline of Havas Europe, but among the targets in the former HNS strategy, Copenhagen Airport also ranks high and many preparations have already been made.
-On the more psychological level, it is of course a challenge to work now under a new brand name after having succesfully built up the image and brand of North Hub Services. However, Havas is highly respected in the world of aviation, being in business for over 80 years, and granting us a strong buying and selling power globally.
-And not only North Hub Services has disappeared as a brand name - Havas is also operating at airports in Georgia, Tunisia and Macedonia, but under the brand name of TAV. All these activities are now to be branded Havas as well, says Mr Balkens.
In April 2010, the Turkish ground handling company Havas bought 50 percent of the shares in North Hub Services that was established in 2009 by Baltijas Aviacijas Sistemas owned by Bertolt Flick, who was then also the president, CEO and co-owner of the Latvian carrier airBaltic.
