Dec 09, 2011 (newstodate): Kazakhstan's Almaty Airport has upgraded its runway to reach ICAO's CAT IIIB standards.
By this effort the airport will further reduce its operational down-time that was three percent in 2010, forcing the redirection of 66 flights in 2010.
The certification process has been completed during the last week of November 2011, and the final acceptance and the launch of CAT IIIB operations will start from December 10, 2011.
