Dec 07, 2011 (newstodate): Despite strong turbulence around Iceland Express flights and passenger operations this autumn, the carrier's cargo business is reportedly in good shape.
-Actually, the Airbus A320-200 aircraft now used by Iceland Express offer even more capacity than the Boeing aircraft previously operated, says Robert Tomasson, managing director at Cargo Express, the carrier's cargo GSA in the Icelandic market.
-We are putting approximately 30 percent more cargo on these aircraft compared to the Boeing 737, and we are generally fully booked outbound from Iceland and also seeing a good utilization of the inbound capacity as well.
-In our view, Iceland Express has come through a very successful restructuring, even though it caused some short term disturbance. A most competent management team has been set up, which I believe will be reflected outwards to the market in the months and seasons to come, says Mr Tomasson.
