Dec 22, 2011 (newstodate): Kazakhstan's Almaty Airport has commissioned Lufthansa Consulting to work out a master plan to serve as the basis for its strategic development.
Specialists from Lufthansa Consulting will now conduct a market potential analysis and traffic forecast by ascertaining the market capability and traffic demand in the passenger, cargo and mail business segments.
In addition, Lufthansa Copnsulting will perform an airport inventory and capacity analysis, including the examination of existing infrastructure, facilities and services as well as an assessment of capacity and operational conditions.
Finally, the consultants will provide a virtual master plan. This involves preparing a master plan document, supplemented by an action plan which includes prioritized recommendations and an infrastructure development proposal.
In 2010 Almaty Airport handled a total of 3.1 million passengers and 63,296 tonnes of airfreight.
