Dec 30, 2011 (newstodate): In an effort to enhance air safety, Georgia has drastically reduced the number of national airlines in 2011.
Starting out with 24 registered carriers by the start of the year, the number of active airlines in Georgia was reduced to 10 by the end of 2011.
14 Georgian airlines thus had their AOC revoked after inspections and safety audits as to ICAO standards through the year.
Among the Georgian carrier now operating are Air Batumi, Eurex Airlines, Georgian Airways, Georgian International Airlines, Sky Georgia, and TAM Air.
