Dec 16, 2011 (newstodate): The Latvian ground handling company North Hub Services has embarked on the road towards a change of corporate identity and a new strategy.
Starting from December 15, 2011, the company is re-branded as Havas Europe, reflecting the fact that the Turkish ground handling and airport services company Havas in April 2010 took 50 percent of the shares in North Hub Services, set up and till then fully-owned by Baltic Aviation Systems with airBaltic's former CEO Bertolt Flick in the chair.
-It is a great opportunity for NHS to experience further international expansion, diversified operations in multiple geographical locations across Europe under the brand of an internationally recognized industry player, the company says in a statement.
With the integration of NHS operations, HAVAS will be providing ground handling services at 32 airports across seven countries - Turkey, Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Georgia, Tunisia, and Macedonia.
So far, the strategy of North Hub Services has been to start operations at all major airport around the Baltic Sea, as well as in Oslo, Norway, with Estonia, Lithuania, and Denmark high on the list of priorities.
It now remains to be seen if this Baltic focus will be maintained, or if Havas Europe is taking a broader North and East European, even Russian, view on future expansions.
It may also be expected that Havas may buy more deeply into ownership of the company.
Havas is 65-percent owned by the Turkish airport construction group TAV.
