Dec 14, 2011 (newstodate): Danish ACMI provider DAT is still in the market for sale of one SAAB 340 and one ATR42 freighter - but none of the sales have yet materialized.
-The SAAB 340 will go to a customer in South America, but we are still awaiting the final elements in the process to fall into place, says Jesper Rungholm, DAT CEO.
-The market is more tough for the freighter sale, not least because of an understandable reluctance when it comes to aircraft financing. Aviation business is not exactly the most attractive for financial institutions these days.
-Anyhow, the freighter is not standing idle, being currently deployed with an operator in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, serving Air France Cargo with regional airfreight distribution.
-Besides, we have just landed our first contract in Saudi Arabia, with Alpha Star Aviation, an operator in Riyadh.
-This carrier is awaiting the delivery of new ATR-42-600 aircraft, and one ATR-42-400 aircraft operated by our Lithuanian company DOT will cover for this until delivery time, which will mean anything between six and 12 months, says Mr Rungholm.
