Dec 22, 2011 (newstodate): The Czech carrier CSA is intensifying its focus on services to Russia and the CIS in 2012.
As a latest addition, CSA will launch services to Ufa, Ufa the capital of the autonomous republic of Bashkortostan, during the coming summer season, planning for two to four weekly rotations between Prague and Ufa from March 25, 2012.
Ufa will become the sixth destination in the Russian Federation with scheduled service by CSA from Prague.
The carrier currently operates eight scheduled routes to Russia three from Karlovy Vary to Moscow, St Petersburg, and Samara, and five from Prague to Moscow, St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Samara, and Rostov-on-Don.
As part of the strategy, CSA launched flights between Prague and Baku, Azerbaijan, on December 18, 2011.
-We have declared repeatedly that Czech Airlines will increasingly focus on markets in the post-Soviet region, where there is significant long-term potential, says Jiri Marek, CSA VP Sales and Marketing.
-So far this year, we have opened four new routes to the region. On most of our existing routes to the countries of the former Soviet Union, we have added new flights or increased seat capacity this year. The planned opening of the new route between Prague and Ufa is the next step in the fulfillment of our strategy and the transformation of our carriage network. In the 2012 summer season, Czech Airlines is planning further innovations and business activities on the local market, says Mr Marek.
