Dec 01, 2011 (newstodate): Uncertainty again shrouds the ongoing tender process for privatization of Croatia's Zagreb Airport.
After having extended the deadline for final bids in the tender process to December 12, 2011, from earlier October 31, 2011 and before that the end of September 2011, doubts have now arisen over whether the tender process will be completed at all.
December 12, 2011, is also the date for general elections in Croatia, and a change of the political composition of the parliament might lead to a cancellation of plans to select a new operator for a 30-year period, with the winner obliged to undertake a series of investments in modern infrastructure including new terminals and technologies within the framework of a Master Plan aiming at securing Zagreb Airport a position as a regional hub for air traffic.
