Dec 29, 2011 (newstodate): With the recent ruling by the Danish Competition Authority, the status of the LCC facility, CPH GO at Coppenhagen Airport has changed fundamentally.
The ruling means that the facility must open up for transfer traffic to offer fair and open access to all airlines at the airport at equal terms.
-The ruling effectively means that CPH GO is now just another terminal with no specific low-cost fingerprint. This will make the benefits from our low-cost terminal project even more visible and convincing, says Mogens Kornbo, a leading partner in the project for a new dedicated low-cost terminal at Copenhagen.
-We are now awaiting the ruling on our case for allocation of land at Copenhagen Airport to build a new terminal dedicated to low-ocst operators with own specifications, cost structure and infrastructure independent from Copenhagen Airport. And we expect the final ruling to be announced early in 2012, says Mr Kornbo.
Once a verdict is passed in favor of the stalled low-cost terminal project, some 18 months are required for legal issues and construction works before commissioning of the facility.
In the meantime, only one low-cost operator, easyJet has opted for CPH GO that was opened for traffic on October 31, 2010.
