Dec 13, 2011 (newstodate): Upcoming carrier Slovakian Airlines is now finalizing its preparations for launch of operations.
-We landed our AOC in October 2011, our first aircraft is on the tarmac, we now have also the transport license, and we expect to start out with our first ACMI operation next week, says Pavol Hajla, Slovakian Airlines Ground Operations Director.
-After that, regular flight operations will start early in 2012, targeting March 2012, says Mr Hajla.
The airline, based at Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefanik Airport and set up by Slovak entrepreneur Arnold Medzihradsky and Mikhail Bagdasarov who is also the owner of the Armenian carrier Armavia, has taken delivery of its first aircraft, a Boeing 737-500 on a lease contract with Armavia and formerly operated by the Czech CSA.
The carrier reportedly plans to launch scheduled flights from Bratislava to airports in the UK, Italy, Spain and Russia as its first destinations.
