Dec 02, 2011 (newstodate): Seeing the volumes in November 2011 dipping by 6.2 percent, y-o-y, hopes at Denmark's Billund Airport for raising the level significantly after last year's record are fading.
A total of 5,292 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport in December, including 2,419 tonnes of imports, down 18.3 percent, and 2,873 tonnes of exports, up 7.2 percent, y-o-y.
In January-November 2011 the airport thus handled a total of 58,435 tonnes of cargo, still up three percent on last year.
The totals include 28,212 tonnes of imports, down 9.8 percent, and 30,223 tonnes of exports, up 18.6 percent, y-o-y, and growing steadily through the year.
While the export volumes were thus still increasing in November, the pace is slowing down towards the end of the year.
Growing five percent in 2010, Billund Airport handled a record-high volume of cargo, 61,568 tonnes.
Through the year, imports increased by no less than 52.6 percent, y-o-y, to 33,648 tonnes, while exports also grew by 19.2 percent to 27,920 tonnes.
