Debt-ridden Dagestan Airlines, based at Uytash Airport in Makhachkala, Dagestan, is losing its AOC after aborted efforts to sell the state's 100 percent stake to public investors.
On December 4, 2010, a Tupolev Tu-154M from Dagestan Airlines crashed during an emergency landing at Domodedovo International Airport, Moscow, and in November 2011 the airline was also included by the Russian aviation authorities on the list of Russian carriers prohibited from operating into the EU.
Dagestan Airlines has been operating an obsolete fleet of five TU-154 aircraft on routes in Russia, to Sharjah and to Turkey.
