Dec 13, 2011 (newstodate): In summer 2012, the capitals of Italy and Georgia are to be connected with direct non-stop air services for the first time ever.
Alitalia plans to launch flights on the new route between Rome and Tbilisi, Georgia, from summer 2012, starting out with two weekly rotations.
So far, air travelers between the two destinations have been forced to use indirect routing options.
New airlines into Georgia in 2011 include Air Astana, China Southern Airlines, "Ural Airlines, Taban Air, Fly Dubai, and Air Cargo, and from February 2012, Qatar Airways will start operating into Georgia as well.
