Dec 27, 2011 (newstodate): The civil aviation scene in Russia changed significantly through 2011.
While 158 airlines were registered in Russia by the start of the year, the number has decreased to 126 by the end of the year - a decline by some 20 percent.
Through the year, the Russian civil aviation authority revoked the AOC from 27 carriers, while five new carriers received their AOCs.
Seven carriers were also restricted from operating into EU airspace or had their operational scope reduced in other markets.
