Nov 25, 2011 (newstodate): Poland's Warsaw Chopin Airport saw its total cargo volumes in October 2011 up by five percent, y-o-y.
A total of 3,800 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, with domestic cargo seeing the biggest growth compared to October 2010, up 47.2 percent, while the volume of cargo carried on international routes rose more modestly by 4.5 percent, y-o-y.
During January-October 2011, the airport generated a total of 36,200 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 8.8 percent, y-o-y.
Top cargo destinations in terms of volume carried included Cologne with 6,300 tonnes, Leipzig 4,900 tonnes, Chicago 3,200 tonnes, Shanghai 2,200 tonnes, and New York 2,100 tonnes.
The biggest cargo carriers were LOT Polish Airlines with 12,100 tonnes, UPS Airlines 9,300 tonnes, European Air Transport 5,100 tonnes, Sprint Air 1,500 tonnes, and Air Contractors with 1,400 tonnes.
