Nov 08, 2011 (newstodate): Effective from December 1, 2011, the Swiss handling provider Swissport will set up Helsinki Vantaa Airport as a new base, with Finnair as its launch customer.
Finnair has contracted Swissport to provide baggage and apron services at Helsinki Airport in Finland under a five-year contract, replacing its current provider Barona Handling.
The cooperation with Swissport will concern only traffic at Helsinki Vaanta Airport, with Finnair retaining its current handling contracts elsewhere in the country's airports.
Swissport will not, however, be restricted to handling of Finnair's flights, but will also aim at attracting other airline customers at the airport.
