Nov 14, 2011 (newstodate): Scandinavian Airlines System has entered into a sales agreement with Sunrise Asset Management to sell 13 MD82/83/87 aircraft and an additional 12 spare engines.
Delivery of the aircraft and engines will commence immediately and is scheduled to be completed in February 2013.
This transaction is a further step in SAS phase-out program for the MD80 series aircraft which are being replaced by Boeing 737NG and Airbusd A320 aircraft prior to the commencement of the A320 NEO ordered earlier this year.
Once the deliveries to Allegiant Air are completed, SAS will have sold 45 MD80 series aircraft.
