Nov 23, 2011 (newstodate): Ukraine is now reportedly on the radar of ever-expanding Gulf carrier Qatar Airways that is continuing its strategy of expansion into E European markets.
The carrier will reportedly open flights on a new route between Doha and Kiev, Ukraine, in 2012.
In September 2011, Qatar and Ukraine signed a new air services agreement to regulate the air traffic between the two markets including designation of carriers from each side and procedures for establishing new routes as well as for code-sharing.
Latest news is the opening of Qatar Airways' flights from Doha to Zagreb, in Croatia, with Qatar Airways to become the first Middle East carrier to operate all year round with scheduled services to Croatia.
From February 1, 2012, Qatar Airways will launch flights from Doha to Baku in Azerbaijan, and Tbilisi in Georgia, and in 2011 the carrier started operations to Bucharest in Romania, Budapest in Hungary, as well as to Sofia in Bulgaria.
