Nov 02, 2011 (newstodate): Iceland Express is at legal odds with its former CEO, Matthias Imsland, who is engaged in establishing a new LCC to compete with his former employer.
Iceland Express sacked Matthias Imsland in September 2011 while his terms of contract entitles him to retain his monthly salary and several benefits till April 1, 2012.
The carrier claims that this is incompatible with his new business venture and instead calls for a 24 month clause barring him from engaging in aviation-related business ventures.
The court, however, rejected the claims by Iceland Express that will now appeal this decision to the next higher court instance.
In the meantime, the new LCC named WOW Air set up by Skuli Mogensen and Matthias Imsland is reporting a strong response to its call for management and crew members to launch the carrier from next Spring, 2012.
