Nov 24, 2011 (newstodate): Effective from November 17, 2011, the Free Route Airspace concept has been implemented by Danish Naviair and the Swedish LFV Air Navigation Service providers.
With Free Route Airspace, the airliner and pilots will be able to plan a direct flight route through the Danish-Swedish airspace.
Calculations by Naviair and LFV show that the concept corresponds to an average saving of 1.3 percent in fuel and flying time for the airlines that operate in Danish and Swedish airspace.
Calculations also show that airlines will save almost 7,500 flight hours per year compared to the flying time of the flight plans.
