Nov 07, 2011 (newstodate): Talks between the Serb state and the Latvian bidder for JAT, Baltic Aviation Systems are now to verify if the process for tendering the privatization of the carrier is to continue.
Sources say these talks are taking place through November 2011, after which it will become clear if BAS wants to proceed by placing a binding offer for taking over the airline before the end of the month.
Whatever the outcome of this, the decision on the fate of JAT will become clear before the end of this year.
The sole participant in the tender, Baltic Aviation Systems is equally owned by Bertolt Flick, former airBaltic CEO, and the Bahamas-registered Russian investment fund Taurus Asset Management Fund Limited, owned by a Russian national, Stanislav Kovtun.
