Nov 23, 2011 (newstodate): According to the latest Airbus Global Market Forecast, Nordic airlines are predicted to require 424 new passenger aircraft between 2011 and 2030.
These new aircraft deliveries will be dominated by single-aisles, 365 aircraft, such as the A320 Family, but Airbus also forecasts a trend toward larger aircraft sizes as airlines seek to grow capacity efficiently, reduce seat mile costs as well as the impact on the environment.
Airbus forecasts the delivery of 59 twin-aisle new aircraft over the next 20 years in the Nordics, including aircraft such as the A330 and A350 XWB, half of these as replacements for older aircraft and the other half for meeting increasing demands in the market.
The Airbus forecast for the Nordic region is based on an analysis of seven countries, where over 50 airlines operate some 302 passenger aircraft today.
The aircraft fleet serving the Nordic market will grow from about 300 aircraft today, to more than 500 over the next 20 years, an increase of aircraft in service of 70 percent, according to Airbus.
