Oct 25, 2011 (newstodate): Russia's Volga-Dnepr Group is reportedly negotiation with United Aircraft Corporation for acquisition of no less than 40 AN-124-100 aircraft.
If carried through, the aircraft order would further bolster the group's position in the global airfreight market where Volga-Dnepr plans to be ranked among the world's top-10 by 2020.
Volga-Dnepr currently operates a fleet of 10 AN-124-100 aircraft as well as five Il-76TD-90VD freighters.
Production of the AN-124-100 freighter was suspended in December 2009, but many efforts have since been made to revive the program.
