Oct 19, 2011 (newstodate): Russia's Volga-Dnepr Group has now taken the first steps towards adding express airfreight deliveries to its product portfolio.
The group has acquired the Russian carrier Atran to provide the backbone for new flight operations with Atran's four AN-12 freighter aircraft, and plans are to add also Boeing 737-300 freighter aircraft to the fleet.
With these aircraft, Volga-Dnepr will provide flights from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to Leipzig and Luxembourg for onward distribution of express shipments carried on Volga-Dnepr's own network.
Plans are also to add charter cargo operations and general cargo transportation using Atran's freighters.
