Oct 25, 2011 (newstodate): After the final defeat of Gaddafi's rule in Libya, the no-fly zone over Libya is now to be lifted to allow for commercial and much-needed humanitarian flight operations.
Libya's National Transitional Council has thus reached an agreement with NATO to allow for the opening of an international air service to Benghazi, and the opening of air routes between the cities of Benghazi, Tripoli and Misrata.
The agreement takes immediate effect, and among the first airlines announcing plans for opening of new flights into Libya is Qatar Airways with flights from Doha from November 1, 2011.
