Oct 26, 2011 (newstodate): Singapore Airlines Cargo is to re-introduce a sixth freighter service between Copenhagen and Singapore from the start of this winter's schedule.
The new frequency will be routed via Sharjah as is the case with three other services, while two other flights are routed via Bangalore, in India.
-The introduction of this additional service proves the company's commitment to the Nordic and Baltic markets that have been able to generate both volumes and yields sufficient to warrant the allocation of freighter capacity, says Kim Irmov, Singapore Airlines Cargo manager Nordic & Baltic.
-Our performance in the Nordic and Baltic markets has also proved that the decision to maintain a single regional hub at Copenhagen Airport makes good sense. The market situation in each of the region's countries varies over time, but by consolidating our shipments at a single hub we are in a position to balance this with shifting our emphasis correspondingly in order to achieve an over-all high rate of utilization of the capacity.
-It remains this company's policy to go not just for volumes, but for profitable operations. But having said that, we must of course remain competitive also in turbulent times like these, says Mr Irmov.
