Oct 20, 2011 (newstodate): Europe's airlines may hope for an early and final solution to the problems with Russia's excessive overflight charges.
After the recent EU/Russia Aviation Summit in St Petersburg it was confirmed that Russia links the abolition of the charges with the country's access into the World Trade Association, WTO.
Now Russia's chief negotiator has said on Russian TV that he expects the admission to be confirmed already by mid-November this year.
If this falls into place, Russia has committed itself to finally ratify the agreement reached years ago about the termination of the charges that have hindered European carriers from using the short-cut routes over Siberia.
