Oct 26, 2011 (newstodate): Russia's Moscow Domodedovo Airport is preparing for a future with Airbus A380 traffic.
The airport is currently installing equipment to handle the A380 with double-access bridges and apron facilities, and these projects are planned to be completed in 2012.
The airport is already certified to handling of the Airbus A380, and expectations are that the first carrier to introduce the aircraft in scheduled service at the airport will be Emirates, while this has still not been officially confirmed.
Besides, the privately-owned carrier Transaero, based at Moscow Domodedovo Airport, that was the first among Russia's airlines to introduce also the Boeing 747 aircraft is reportedly mulling plans for acquisition of the Airbus A380 within a five-year time frame.
