Oct 31, 2011 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Alrosa Mirny Air is to disappear.
The carrier will be merged with Yakutia Airlines, based at Yakutsk, as its owner, the diamond company Alrosa is pulling out of aviation business.
Alrosa Mirny Air is operating a fleet of aging Soviet-built aircraft,including freighter aircraft, while Yakutia Airlines a fleet of five Boeing 757-200, three of which are leased from Icelandair, one Boeing 737-700, two Boeing 737-800, five Tu-154M, four An-140, 10 An-24, and five An-26 aircraft.
In May 2011, Yakutia Airlines took delivery of its first Boeing 757-200F on a lease agreement with AWAS, as the first freighter in the fleet, and plans to add two more similar aircraft in 2012 to build up a new cargo division in the airline.
