Oct 10, 2011 (newstodate): Russia is considering waiving taxation on imports of foreign aircraft with up to 70 seats.
The country will need some 130 turboprop aircraft in category up to 2020 to meet Russian airlines' demand, and the country's own production of aircraft in this segment is inadequate to meet this target.
If the recommendation by the Russian ministry of transportation is finally approved it will open the gates for Western aircraft like ATR, Bombardier and Embraer.
