Oct 19, 2011 (newstodate): Abandoning plans for launch of flights between Copenhagen and Frankfurt, Norwegian has instead decided to open flights on a new route from Copenhagen to Berlin.
Effective from December 8, 2011, Norwegian will offer four weekly rotations on the route to Berlin Schoenefeld Airport.
Norwegian is already serving Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Stockholm with flights to Berlin.
The carrier will, however, meet stiff competition on the route between Copenhagen and Berlin that is served by SAS with 20 weekly rotations,Air Berlin with 17, and easyJet with 13 weekly rotations.
Norwegian had announced start of flights from Copenhagen to Frankfurt from November 3, 2011, with six weekly rotations.
But booking figures convinced the carrier that the market was not attracted by the offer, and we are keen to operate only routes with potentials for profitability, says Johan Bisgaard Larsen, Norwegian's manager press and marketing Denmark.
