Oct 26, 2011 (newstodate): As one of the first results from the take-over in May 2011 of the Danish carrier Cimber Sterling by the Ukrainean national Igor Kolomoysky, Cimber Sterling is reopening the route between Copenhagen and Kiev from October 30, 2011.
Sharing ownership with the Ukrainean carrier Aerosvit, Cimber Sterling will operate the route in a code-share agreement with its Ukrainean partner, offering daily rotations on the route with full integration between the two airlines' route networks.
Cimber served the route between Copenhagen and Kiev from May 3, 2004, till March 5, 2005, while Aerosvit launched daily flights on the route from October 31, 2010, forcing SAS out of the market from March 25, 2011.
SAS first entered the Ukrainean market in 1992, but suspended flights from Copenhagen in 1995, returning again from summer 2008.
Aerosvit is reportedly to continue its daily operations alongside Cimber Sterling till the end of the summer schedule in 2012, when Cimber Sterling will then take over these flights also.
