Oct 24, 2011 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic's Supervisory Board has installed Martin Gauss as the airline's coming CEO.
Mr Gauss will take over the office from November 1, 2011, replacing Bertolt Flick.
The Board may consider Mr Gauss a prime option based on his experience as CEO at Hungary's Malev where he served from April 2009 till May 2011.
During his time with Malev, Mr Gauss undertook to slim the ailing airline's organization, restructure the aircraft fleet from five to just two aircraft types, cutting costs, manpower, flights and routes in the process to bring back performance into black figures.
Serving with Malev for only two years, Mr Gauss however handed in his resignation, allegedly over disagreement with the state wages reduction scheme that would cut his salary significantly.
