Oct 05, 2011 (newstodate): Wisely enough, Lufthansa Cargo has extended the contract for ground handling services of its aircraft at Russia's Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo Airport for another three-year period.
The carrier first started operations at the airport in 20090, moving its Europe-Asia en-route hub from Kazakhstan to Russia after much political pressure thinly veiled in issues of operational costs and fuel savings.
Lufthansa Cargo has thus confirmed its continued operation at Krasnoyarsk till 2015.
In 2010 the carrier performed 1,515 flight operations at Krasnoyarsk, but during the first eight months in 2011 the volume has increased by 24 percent, y-o-y, to 1,153 operations, making Krasnoyarsk the carrier's second-largest hubs after Frankfurt, measured in freighter flight operations.
