Oct 19,2011 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo is working hard to minimize the effects from the recent court ruling banning night flights temporarily at Frankfurt Airport from October 30, 2011.
In spite of the massive restrictions, Lufthansa Cargo will have to drop only two weekly connections to China from the previous timetable, offering instead alternatives with own freighter services or belly capacities on Lufthansa passenger aircraft.
On various connections the carrier has had to plan additional technical stopovers at Cologne/Bonn Airport so as not to lose internationally negotiated overflight and landing rights.
From January 2012, Lufthansa Cargo will also have at least one MD-11 freighter stationed permanently at Cologne/Bonn Airport in order to continue offering overnight flight departures to the US.
