Oct 10, 2011 (newstodate): A total of 483 tonnes of mail and cargo was handled in September 2011 at Lithuania's Kaunas Airport.
That was 10 percent down on same month in 2010 - but the comparison hides the fact that September 2010 saw cargo volumes up by no less than 97.3 percent, y-o-y!
In September 2011, mail volumes were down eight percent to 146 tonnes, while cargo volumes were down 11 percent , y-o-y, to 336 tonnes.
The cargo traffic consists primarily of the weekly Jade Air Cargo Boeing 747-400F imports service from Shanghai to Kaunas driven by Hoptrans Logistics and Agility, with the freighter taken over at Kaunas by Lufthansa Cargo for export services to Frankfurt, continuing to Mumbai, India.
