October 04, 2011 (newstodate): The board of the low-cost carrier Iceland Express will now take a time-out in its search for a new CEO.
-After ten days as CEO, Birgir Jonsson and the board of Iceland Express found that they were not on terms regarding future plans for the company. Mr. Jonsson then decided to resign on September 29, 2011, says Heimir Mar Petursson, Iceland Express communications manager.
-The board has appointed Skarphedinn Berg Steinarsson, a member of the IE board, as temporary CEO, and will now take the time necessary to find a new CEO for Iceland Express, says Mr Petursson.
Skarpheddinn Berg Steinarsson was earlier also installed as temporary CEO of the UK-based ACMI provider Astraeus, sharing ownership by Icelandic investment company Fengur with Iceland Express, after its CEO was sacked over quality deficiencies in provision of aircraft for Iceland Express.
