Oct 19, 2011 (newstodate): In the air since September 14, 2011, the new AugustaWestland AW139 helicopter service between Helsinki, Finland, and Tallinn, Estonia, has performed excellently from day 1.
-We are providing 10 weekly rotations, regularity has been perfect, load factors are high, and the maintenance program by AgustaWestland has proved its worth, says Kari Ljungberg, Copterline CEO.
-Also the timing of the launch of services has been excellent as we are into the rather harsh weather period, and people prefer a smooth and fast helicopter ride to the turbulent sailing on ferries between the two cities.
-I can confirm that our next target is opening flights between Helsinki and St Petersburg, in Russia. This requires a very detailed and demanding process of preparations and negotiations, and like the launch of our first route required some 18 months of preparations I expect about the same span of time in the case of setting up a new route to St Petersburg.
-But is all goes well, I would expect the opening of flights between Helsinki and St Petersburg to happen some time in 2013, says Mr Ljungberg.
