Oct 21, 2011 (newstodate): The long-awaited new strategy for Estonian Air will soon go public.
According to a company source, the strategy will be presented to the Estonian Air Supervisory Board by the end of this month, and after the board has approved it content, details can be published.
The carrier's new chairman of the Supervisory Board, Joakim Helenius has already said that the airline needs more destinations with its limited aircraft fleet, and the answer may be a strategy of routing Estonian flights from Tallinn to end destinations through other airports in e.g. Poland or Lithuania to catch more passengers in an effort to boost booking figures and revenues.
Once the strategy has been finalized, the issue of the future aircraft fleet will also fall into place, and indications are that the carrier will most likely end up with a fleet of 15 aircraft by 2015.
In December 2011, Estonian Air is to add its third CRJ900 aircraft to its fleet that also comprises two Boeing 737-300, two Boeing 737-500 and two SAAB340 aircraft.
