Oct 03, 2011 (newstodate): Export airfreight volumes at Denmark's Billund Airport are still growing - but not enough to outbalance the decline in import volumes.
A total of 5,855 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport in September 2011 - only 0.6 percent over the same month in 2010.
Export airfreight grew by 19.1 percent, y-o-y, to 3,103 tonnes, but a decline by 14.4 percent, y-o-y in imports, to 2,752 tonnes pulled in the other direction.
In January-September 2011, the airport thus handled a total of 47,555 tonnes of cargo, which was 4.7 percent over last year.
During the nine months, a total of 23,235 tonnes of import cargo entered the airport, down 8.1 percent, y-o-y, while exports grew by 20.8 percent, y-o-y, to 24,320 tonnes.
